Here is some information about the two main children's chess clubs
in the Redbridge area. Both are family based clubs where children/juniors can learn to play chess (or improve their skills)
in a relaxed and pleasant environment. Expert tuition is offered by English Chess Federation (ECF) Accredited Chess Coaches.
1) REDBRIDGE CHILDREN'S CHESS CLUB.
This club meets every Monday evening, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, throughout the
year (except for the month of August when we have a summer break). It is based at the Redbridge Social
Centre (ie the same place as the Ilford Chess Club, which meets later in the evening).
It is to the rear of 188/190 Beehive Lane, Ilford, ESSEX, IG4 5EE. If you go
down the driveway between the two houses (188 and 190), when you get to the end of the
driveway you will see the Redbridge Social Centre (with large car park) straight ahead of you
surrounded by an enclosed fence. Inside the fence there is adequate secure parking.
Membership is £2 per family per week.
2) REDBRIDGE CHESS ACADEMY - SEVEN KINGS.
This club meets every Saturday, from 9.30am to 12.30pm, throughout the year.
It is based at the Downshall Centre, Aldborough Road South, Seven Kings, Ilford, ESSEX, IG3 8HZ (the Downshall Centre is at the corner of Aldborough Road South and St. Johns Road, nearest bus route 364).
The fee, when you attend, is £2 per family.
